After an extended Substack absence, the only natural thing to write about is the reason behind my sudden disappearance. I’ll do it in TheBlackBean style:
June 01: Once again, I spent an absurd amount of time wondering.
June 02: I cried SO much during HSM 3.
June 03: I can’t let myself give up on finding real friends here.
June 04: I have a pair of strong arms that hug me after I cry for the jobs I don’t get.
June 05: Something is changing within me.
June 07: ROLE MODEL was SO good.
June 08: Hoy le dije te quiero a un hombre de crespos oscuros y ojos grandes.
June 09: I need a hobby.
June 10: My fear is silly. There’s no reason to doubt.
June 11: I finally have a library card.
June 12: ICE is taking farmers in California, scary.
June 13: Extraño el misticismo Colombiano.
June 14: En Colombia es fácil encontrar a Dios.
June 15: There are some people I’ll never lose.
June 17: Shift - Workout - Benefits - Job hunt - Unpack
June 18: What happened to “una llega donde la están esperando”?
June 19: ¿Será que para la gente que pierde los recuerdos es más fácil morirse?
June 20: A TRAGEDY to have new Karol G music and not be in Medellín.
June 22: I’m waiting for Sabina to watch Materialists.
June 23: The conversation inevitably happened.
June 24: Hoy voy a nadar!
June 25: En una semana viajo a Barcelona.
June 26: “Dios se hace presente al pronunciar su nombre”
June 27: I’m working on the Gesto Noble poster now.
June 29: The poster is not a masterpiece but I like it.
June 30: I know what I feel.
Many things happened in the spring-summer overlap: Lilies bloomed, I went to my cousin’s wedding in el Carmen, I read El Amor en los Tiempos del Cólera, I swam in the Mediterranean, my hair became straight, I sang Bags, SE ME OLVIDA, and Love is embarrassing live. Many things didn’t happen in the spring-summer overlap: I didn’t change jobs, war didn’t push me back to Colombia, didn’t feel like a stranger among my friends after not seeing them for a year, didn’t write the second part of my social media essay.
Hopefully, I’ll go back to the weekly posts soon. I’m still physically and emotionally jet lagged. Si están en Medellín o alrededores, vayan al Gesto Noble!!!, y pongan esta canción en todas las farras.
